Dear Diary...
A Day in the Life of a Middle School
Students at Parkfields Middle School have contributed some diary entries about school life.

Dear Diary,
Today it’s Friday. Friday is one of my favourite days of the week as I have some of my favourite lessons.
Firstly, I have English. I like English because we sometimes do games and it is really fun. Also, I like doing group work.
Next, I have French! In today’s lesson we followed instructions and coloured in and cut out a stable with Jesus in it. I found this enjoyable.
After break, I have two lessons of Technology one after the other – right up to lunch. In Technology,we make all sorts of things. So far, we have made doorbells, torches and key rings. After lunch I have P. E .This is my favourite lesson because I re ally like sport .We are able to do all kinds of different sports ; tennis, football, cricket, rugby and many more!
After Celebration Assembly in the afternoon, it’s time to go home.

Being at Parkfields for four years now, I know every bit of a school day. Every day can be enjoyable here, even if you don’t have your favourite lessons.
The day I love the most is Wednesday. The day starts with Technology which I enjoy a lot as it is creative. I love making things.
Next I have Maths. My best friend Phoebe sits next to me and we help each other and enjoy the lessons together. Our maths teacher is also really nice and funny.
After break I have Science. I like Science because it’s an interesting subject and I always manage to learn something new!
Then I have English which is another subject I enjoy. The lessons can be fun and we are learning things to lead up to next year at Harlington.
Then after lunch, to top the day off, it’s Maths again.
Then I travel home on the bus with my friends where we talk about the day we’ve had.

Dear Diary
It was my favourite day today – Thursday. As usual, I walked to school. However, it was snowing today. It was really hard not to slip over and, if I did, I’d look round to make sure nobody saw how silly I looked.
My first and second lessons – Technology – were good fun. We were planning and designing a bag which had to be made out of recycled clothes and fabrics. My friends and I had a great time.
After morning break, I had Humanities. It was a bit different today. We each received a letter from a child, around our age, from Ghana in Africa. It was really interesting to find out what their everyday lifestyle is like and what their village is like too.
Next, I had Art. Art is my favourite subject and I’m also on the Gifted and Talented Register for this subject. I really enjoy drawing. At the moment we are drawing our own versions of famous artists’ drawing and paintings. It’s amazing to see all of the different types of art from around the world.
At lunchtime, I ate my food and then had a good time with some of my friends. After French in the afternoon, I walked home with my friends, laughing about what a good day we have had and how we can’t wait until tomorrow.
That is just one of my days at Parkfields.

Dear Diary
It’s Friday – my favourite day of the week. It’s the weekend the next day and the day when I enjoy my lessons the most.
My first lesson was English. I like this subject as, when you’re writing, there is no right or wrong answer and it can be personal and individual.
French next. If language was only words and no sentences, I would be a master! But in French, like any language, we use sentences to communicate and I need to work on constructing sentences using the words I have learnt.
After a twenty minute break I had R.E.The lessons are fun and I learn a lot as we l l .This Friday we only had half the lesson as we were due to visit Harlington Upper School to watch their production of We Will Rock You! The musical featured music by Queen.Year 8 re a l ly enjoyed the show.
When we arrived back in school,we had the last half hour of Art where we we re taking somebody else’s picture and redrawing it on a larger scale. I like Art, as I enjoy being able to express things without the need for words.

A Day at Parkfields
Parkfields has not changed very much throughout my four years here. Parkfields are still organising amazing trips out. Just last week I saw We Will Rock You! at Harlington Upper School with the rest of Year 8. I really enjoyed it and got into the spirit of the whole play. The Harlington Upper students performed like true professionals. The theatre shook with excitement as we stamped our feet to the beat of the music.
This is the last week of term and we are having a Christmas party in form time. It’s nearly Christmas and we’re getting festive; the decorations are up and lessons are Christmas based. When I was in Year 5 we had a Chiltern Radio disco in the last week of term. I broke my finger beforehand and I was invited to the Chiltern Radio recording studio. This was because I missed the whole disco – I was in the Luton and Dunstable hospital having my finger-tip repositioned. That was a day to remember for years to come!
